Your profile say's You got an old extreme Rig.Laugh
Man I cant believe you are jumping an old, Extreme ( Shubi ) Knutson BASE Rig.
There cant be to many of those still left around. They were a good Velcro Rig.
I did a couple hundred of my first BASE jumps on his Rigs.
Who did you but it from ? That thing has most likely changed hands a few times

Re: [RayLosli] PDX Visit

Re: [aidclimber] PDX Visit
Ya... So...Easy to pack and close.

They would almost close by themselves. Wink

I wonder how many of those Rigs are still around ?

Re: [aidclimber] PDX Visit
I've seen a couple that looked ok. And a couple that looked...not so ok.

I wonder how many versions that rig went through. I think there's a guy who reads these forums and may have sewn them...

Re: [TomAiello] PDX Visit
Blake Robinson was the only other person in the shop besides Mark (shubi) that sewed the Rigs.
He is still an active Skydiver and he did about a hundred BASE jumps.

In the original Rigging loft in, Oregon City Oregon, were the Extreme was built.
The Eclipse, Skydive Rig was also Built there before pulling up shop and moving to California to build
Skydive and Eclipse Tandem Rigs.

I think the majority of Extreme BASE rigs were built in Oregon at least 90 %
.

Here's a pic of an advert Shoobi ran in my old BASE magazine . . . early 90s.

He brought the first Extreme he built down for Anne to look at, and it was indeed rough looking, but it was sound.

I've been a rigger for twenty years and I can fix stuff, but making it look pretty is still another thing.

His later stuff was very nice.

I would be so sure about that. A woman name Rosa made a huge portion of the containers. Parts and harnesses were built buy someone else.

That's probably true. Theres 3 slightly different versions that I know of. They improved over the years but were never developed. The later rigs were really getting close and were actually pretty nice.

Shoobi went through a Neon Blue phase and about a dozen were made that color.

I still have a black one.

Nick, that's a great picture of ShoobiLaugh

Re: [KMonster] PDX Visit
I'd love to send you a pic, however my cameras were stolen out of the back of my car along with my rig. But with some good luck i retrieved the rig (skydiving infinity, crossfire, PD reserve, and cypres all with about 250 jumps) from a crack slinging pimp, and i mean pimp as in he had a whore at his side, for $180 cash. yes it sucks, but its an entertaining story.

But Kmonster, I understand you are in Seattle so You might see it first had. Dexter PMed me so we'all might make a jump or two. or enjoy the rain.

Nick,
Is the article next to the ad about a certain jumper taking a slider down rig to terminal in California and breaking a riser??? If so ..... how could I get a copy of that. The certain jumper is having a going away party at my families restaurant tomorrow evening as he is moving away from us. Any chance you could scan/photo a copy and send it to me if it is??? jayepstein@hotmail.com

Re: [basehoundsam] PDX Visit
Ahh.....the secret of Mr. Eric Ryde. What an interesting story. "Eric" was the mystery jumper that the NPS has photos of (but never caught) when they busted/rescued the Half Dome jumper. They developed his film and found the infamous Eric Ryde on some of the photos. I made many jumps with "Eric" in the mid-90's, but have no clue to where he is today.

Re: [NickDG] PDX Visit
Okay that is funny, because here is a picture of me in my Extreme!

p.s. The harness was super comfy (Hookit made it). I hung out in that thing for 4 hours and still had some sensation left in my legs.
