With the speed of BASE numbers issued just since the year 2000, we can see BASE 1000 will be issued sometime within the next six months.

I hope whoever receives BASE 1000 realizes what a milestone that will be.

Who would have thought it would take almost 23 years to go from BASE number 1 to BASE number 1000? Who would have thought how much the sport would change over the course of those years, and who would have thought so many of us old timers (okay, I've taken to accept that title) would still be around to see it. Carl Boenish, before he died, said in the early 1980s, that BASE 1000 would be awarded in about 1990 . . . bless his optimistic soul.

Who ever it is that gets BASE one thousand (and I'm pulling for Russel Metlitzky, http://zerop.net/base/) will join BASE number one as having the two most important BASE numbers ever issued. At least until we award BASE 10000, which at the current rate will be sometime around 2024 or 2025.

My generation will never meet BASE 10000, as most of us will be gone, or at least drooling in our Pablum by then, so do me a favor, you young ones, tell him or her, that we were pretty cool people . . .

At this risk of sounding needlessly geeky, the 1000 landmark is relevant only insofar as we choose the arbitrary 10-space numerology as our foundational reference. Were we to count BASE numbers base-16, we'd have a different picture entirely.

The most "important" BASE number is the one that means something special to a particular person at a particular time. There's a few that mean alot to me, and none of them have particular base-10 attributes worth noting. They did used to be attached to some pretty fucking cool human beings, however. I guess they always will be, at least for some of us.

I always hoped I could get a sub 1000 number just so I could fit it on a California license plate (BASEXXX). At this rate it doesn't look like that'll happen.

I'd love to see the faces on the rangers in Yosemite when they pull you over for having a BASE license plate. Priceless...

what does it take to get a base number, is it a jump from each B.A.S.E 2 jmps, 10 jmps each?

and how can I help support Russel in obtaining THE number 1000.

A BASE number can be issued to you when you make one jump from each of the four objects. You can PM Russel about helping him, he would know how better than anyone.

Of course, the most important BASE number is your own.

I meant historically, rather than the world twirls around anyone of us . . .

You can certainly help Russel get his BASE number. But, no one can actually help him get BASE 1000. It's one of the last things in the world that's unriggable.

He either gets it or he don't . . .

That was my original goal, too. I just made it.

I have been needing a B for 20 years. Now that I hear the talk of the numbers getting close to 1000,
I think it is time to seek a building. I have actually done some research and recon on a couple of B sites, and it could happen soon. This thread just gave me the extra "get off my assidness" I needed to get my B. Thanks for the thread Nick.

I guess you had your reasson not to jump B´s already,getting the jump just to get the # must not be the goal,the goal should be to jump an B for the reasson its a B

Hope you see what i say as im not to pick at you.

Funny thing is that many(myself inkluded)rushed to get as low BASE# as poisbly just for the # and not for the reasson of the objects(ofcourse it were exiting and i dont want to be whith out them)but i think people tend to push on to get a lower # before they actualy are ready(myself inkluded).
I wonder if that can lead to more injuryes and perhaps death,i hope not.

I heard a Tibetan monk (with a group that was in town for some multicultural something or other) say that numbers like that, which are "1" more than some power of ten or multiple, are very auspicious. He said they indicate progression and growth. So, I think 1001 is a cool number (I guess I'm impressionable that way).

Plus, it's a palindrome...

I mentioned to a girl in Moab this weekend that maybe she'll be BASE 1000. She said she was hoping to get in before that, but then she agreed that being #1000 would be pretty cool. The guy who got 1000 at the SBK got free membership for life! Lucky guy!

As for me, I have the coolest BASE number there is other than #69, and #666. Mine is 763, which has several notable qualities. First, my favorite number is 7, and I was born in 63. But even more cool is something I just learned from Iiro.

Iiro came by to drop of a copy of his new production, "The Ground is the Limit", and he also gave me a beanie with his company logo on it. It is the number 763, which is the dimensions for a gravehole. 7 feet long, 6 feet deep, 3 feet wide.

Now, add to this that I was born on 4/20, and I must be just numerologically lucky.

Oh, I guess we won't talk about the shattered leg off the B that qualified me for my base number...(be careful guys, make sure your skills are up to the challenge, base number be damned!)

I guess if we had 3 fingers on each hand, and used base 6 as our counting system, then base 666 would be our base 342. Given that I have never met 342 I'd hazard a guess to say his names "Bob" his Mom's called Sally (and so is his sister) and lives in the deep South. God Bless America

Yeah, having Adolph Hitler's birthday has it's downs, that's for sure. The Columbine High School massacre happened on April 20th, which totally sucked for them and for me, and radical Neo-Nazis like to do stuff on his birthday, stuff that I don't like.

That's why I've been so glad about the whole chill herb thing around 4/20. It kind of raises the average, if you know what I mean.

I met a girl at Bridge Day that has the exact same BD as me, same year and everything. We took a photo in the ladies' room.
