Recent Rigs: Velcro or Pin?
If you have bought a brand new container in the last 12 months, what sort was it?

Are people still buying velcro?

Re: [julesUK] Recent Rigs: Velcro or Pin?
no jumps on it yet Frown a distrust of velcro from skydiving (everything in its place i know), the way big wall & wingsuit BASE vids make my heart pound, research from here, elsewhere and the man that made it, convinced me 2 pin was the way to go....

its hanging in the corner now, ans soooooo needs a canopy... but then being grounded atm would be even more tedious with two rigs mocking me....

Although I have two pin rigs, I always use my "Vision" for the more knarly jumps. I've never met anyone who didn't like their "Vision" so far. But trying to find the guy to build you one is a bitch!Tongue

My two cents

554,whats your opinion of the "Vision"

I don't know what to say but I am so sorry.
I must be missing out on something.

I have done every jump on a Velcro Rig.

From Small, to some of the Tallest.
Have nothing bad to say about pin rigs.
Have no aversion to jumping a Pin Rig.
never owned one yet.

I owned a 2-pin rig. I haven't any bad things to say about velcro. I have done only several jumps with velcro. And only two of my friends use velcro rig. They bought it only because it was for the really low price.
The biggest part of european jumpers I've met jump 1-pin rigs. Fast all the jumpers have 2-pin rigs here in Russia.

I think the community opinion made the personal choice of everybody.
For example I know one jumper who make the FJC. He teach two or three jumpers every month. And he is an experimentator -- he like to try something new in packing methods and to sew some parts of gear at home. It's ok for him. But I've met several students of that guy who jumps with home-made stuff too. Just because of his mentors position.
Sometimes the opinion of the local community takes the biggest part in formation of the personal choise in spite of the worlds opinion that may be different.

Your rig Ray is the best velcro rig I've ever seen.Smile If I'll decide to buy Velcro I would like to buy something like that. And I've already told it before, there is no changes in my opinion. Just my respect to you -- you created the really nice gear.

ha ha guess soWinkLucky me im Lazy aswell then huhCool

i used my velcro as a back up rig,but sold it as i found out that i rather packed the pin rig than using the velcro rig.
Must be said that the canopy in the velcro rig also were an unvenred canopy, and i do prefere vented canopyes as i only have in my pin rigs

One of the best lines ever:

"It's actually pretty hard to put a shirt on a sheep."

You never expect to have one of these conversations.

Naw, your velcro rig works just fine. Even on wingsuit jumps. I saw it with my own eyes just a few hours ago. Very nice flight! Smile

Ya.. I set the Tail-Pocket in mid. Tray of the container.
Nice on heading opening. For, Velcro. Wink
Shortcut
Re: [RayLosli] Recent Rigs: Velcro or Pin?
mid tray?
Please go into your theory on the mid tray placement of the tailpocket and how it effects the opening?

What about higher? would that mess with the internal lines (ones not in the tailpocket) more than placeing it in the middle or bottom?

I think I read a post where people were putting the tail pocket roughly an inch about the bottom edge of the container....
Shortcut
Re: [leroydb] Recent Rigs: Velcro or Pin?
I think it's to keep the tailpocket from "bumping" the bottom flap. Same reason why a lot of wingsuiters pack grommet to pin and/or use "open" containers on skydiving gear.
