63' Cliff Jump Video (Windows Media format)

As far as I know, this is the world's lowest BASE jump. No rockets or other pyrotechnics in this rig.

The jumper is Steve Ball, who I used to jump with quite a bit in the mid-1990's. The jump was performed in Ohio in the early 1990's from what I recall. Steve used a tape measure to determine the height of the cliff. Note that he exits over land, but canopy inflation allows him to fly into shallow water. He was unhurt on the jump. Steve gave this video to me and allowed me to put it on my FIXED 2! video in 1999.

I also D-bagged Steve off a 100' bridge with a round several years back. He survived, but the canopy never fully inflated. I'll have to dig that video up and post it as well.

Can't quite tell; did he go stowed?

I don't know, I saw Johnny Anderson base jump off a ladder truck into the pond at crosskeys.

Not sure exactly how high that was, but it looked lower than that cliff.

Firetruck jump was 80' according to Johnny Utah.

What did you do to enhance the opening? Leave brakes unstowed, no tailgate, no locking stow, etc.

How deep was the water?

Also, the rocket jumps simply use compressed gas to pull the pilot chute out, to provide a pilot chute assist, so exiting very low is still dicey.

Direct bagged? Who was holding (or was there a tree involved)?
Was he using a trampoline?

I have no data on how Steve packed. He used to jump a Raven back then, and in the video, it appears that this was the same canopy.
Direct bag = yes (someone held the D-bag).
Trampoline = No.

Yes. This would make some good Dumb & Dumber footage.

Somebody trying to break the world record for lowest BASE. Jumper and D-Bag holder trying to get into sync on trampoline, in order to gain 'unfair' altitude. Jumper and D-Bag holder goes out of sync during stunt. Lines get's extracted from D-Bag. Jumper reaches higher altitude on trampoline, and ignore vital signs. Both goes more out of sync even more. Material starts to extract from D-Bag, but jumper thinks 'This is my chance......'Wink
