anyone have some info how this two canopy work in the low land area ( sub 250 feet )?
which works better in inflation, heading, pressurization and flight control?
any info-advice are very appreciated.

I have made several freefalls from 250' with my FOX 285 V-tecs with covers and a BR 48" ZP PC. With no PC hesitation and primed velcro looking at about 5 sec. canopy ride. I haven't jumped my Flik 293 V-tec with covers from anything lower than 350'. I really can't see a problem though. Why haven't I jumped my Flik on the low stuff? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

What delay are you doing from this? 5 secs sounds very short for this config / jump......... is the canopy time videod?

I only ask as I was getting 5 sec canopy rides from 220ft freefalls with 46" and 42" PC's and unvented canopy (266) and velcro container with 1 / 1.5 sec delays......

Ok, I just dug out the video and timed the canopy ride. It was a little over 7 sec. canopy ride with a one sec. delay. Never timed it before. My bust.

For me it would come down to landing area. Generally when I jump a B where there is a lot of landing hazards I choose my Fox over my FLiK as it is easier to sink and is a little slower. If the landing area is reasonably clear I will go the FLiK for its better glide and flare.

Both canopies work fine regarding inflation, heading and pressurisation. The fact the FLiK is a lighter canopy for its size lends me to choose it over the Fox for low FF’s if the landing area allows it. The landing area is normally my primary concern as this is where most injuries tend to occur.

Time has a way of distorting for some reason in BASE!!

I like to calculate exactly canopy flight times to help me determine opening heights and delays etc - its just me being a tad too anal I guess!

I have vented fox 285 w/ v-tech covers. Below 250 I've had great results. The wing is very consistent in the way it pressurizes and flies; including heading performance. It's also equiped with a multi.

Because extraction will be faster with the lighter canopy, or is inflation faster too? Is it simply the Fox's lower aspect ratio that allows it to sink better than a 4-line Flik?
