Bridge Day
I just read through the FAQ of the official Bridge Day site. I stil got another question that wasn't frequent enough for them to answer.

With my skydives not up to where it needs to be, and it probably won't be by bridge day ($), I am not at all expecting to jump. But I think that the collection of BASE jumpers present and the amount of seminars and information available is invaluable for future use.

What arrangements do I need to make to simply attend, to get a spot close to the exit point, to attend all the safety and instruction and packing seminars, to get to meet kickass BASE jumpers, etc. etc.

Do I need to buy a ticket or pass to get onto the bridge? When do I need to buy it ? When do I need to show up?

I know this is WAAAAY early, but I'd rather be early than late. I'm psyched now anyhow.

QUESTION 2. Where do i find a good collection of Bridge Day Videos online? Skydivingmovies.com has a few, watched them. The official videos I can't get, the link isnt' working. So where do I find a lot of simple online clips?

If you don't plan to jump at Bridge Day, there are no real arrangements you need to make other than a hotel room. The free seminars we offer are open to anyone, and you are more than welcome to attend any or all of them (this year, we've got Spiderbaby teaching a climbing/ascending/descending class).

To get close to the exit point, you simply need to get out there early (9am) to beat the crowd. Getting onto the bridge at Bridge Day has always been free. An even better way for you to learn a lot and get the best viewing location would be for you to help us at the exit point. We're always looking for volunteers if you're interested. Bridge Day is Saturday, October 16, 2004 from 9am to 3pm, so you should arrive in Fayetteville early the day before to attend all the seminars. Don't forget about the BASE Videofest on Thursday night if you're into some cool videos.

As for online videos, check out http://www.bridgeday.info/videogallery.php

With 450+ BASE jumpers in town, you'll surely leave with tons of additional knowledge about BASE.

If you are coming, you had better get a hotel room immediately. Rooms will all be sold out in a matter of weeks. I have a contract with the Holiday Inn and Comfort Inn that allows me to give registered jumpers priority for hotel rooms.

To everyone who is jumping at Bridge Day this year, registration starts on July 1st at 2pm EST at this page. Cya at the bridge....

Re: [Faber] Bridge Day
There are other objects to jump in the area and some jumpers have made 6 jumps in the six hour window that we have for Bridge Day.

Bridge Day is more suited to jumpers who are interested in seeing new gear, enjoying new videos, meeting new friends, seeing old friends, and having a blast with legal jumping for six hours.....then comes the after party!

I think I made 9 or 10 jumps out there last year. Angelic

I agree that Bridge Day is as much, if not more, a social event as a jumping event. And quite frankly I like it that way. Cool

Re: [bertusgeert] Bridge Day
This seems to be a general Bridge day info thread. Is there any place where we could camp out? Its gotta be within watching distance of the bridge becuase I observe the Sabbeth and we dont drive on Saturday. Also, is there a need for volunteer paramedics on Friday (I cant help out Saturday, but will be there watching)

Re: [flyinmedic] Bridge Day
There are a couple campgrounds. Check here. I'm not sure if you can camp anywhere in watching distance, though.

I was in the 1st group, jumped first at 9h10 am ( I was at the very beginning of the 1st wave ), did 3 jumps, the last one 5 min before the end. So I think it's pretty hard to do more than that, except if you can pack in 20 min.

And, this year, it's gonna be zero jump at BD.

Maybe 2005, I hope!

Re: [fab777] Bridge Day
Here are some stats on the number of jumps made at BD2003. Before I started organizing, I used to routinely make 3-4 jumps. The hardcore jumpers with multiple rigs have made up to 6 jumps. Last year, we actually had some down time with no jumpers in line.

Re: [base428] Bridge Day
so i guess it depends on how fast you can get back in the line whith a packed rig?

As i never were at BD(YET) im wondering how fast people are jumping after each other?
I guess that there will be a jumper in the air most of the timeSmile

Are we going to see any records this yearAngelicCool

Re: [Faber] Bridge Day
As soon as a jumper is under canopy and flying away from the bridge, we send the next one off. This is nonstop from 9am-3pm. Last year, I think we put off 836 jumpers in something like 311 minutes (5 hrs - 11 mins) with some down time due to train holds.

That's a nice round number if ever I saw one.
