I need ideas on how to setup my camera for base.

So show me whatcha got.

That depends on what type of camera you have and what type of shot(s) you are trying to get...

I've got a PC 101 and I want to get video of terminal jumps so nothing fancy shot wise, forward facing camera and I want to go with a top mount even though it'll be like a big dorsal fin.

Why not look into a bullet-cam setup? You put the camera in a fanny pack, and the lens that is on your helmet is about the size of a thing of lipstick. The new ones have excellent resolution, and a couple jumpers on here use them reguarly...

Bullet Cam set up is nice and like you rightly point out, everything is kept away neatly in the "bum bag" or as you boys call it "fanny pack". This reduces snag potential and allows for easy re-configuration of the camera direction. However, It can be bulky around the waist and there seems to be a sound arguement that it WILL affect your tracking on terminal jumps.
Maybe it's more of a head fuck than anything else but if you feel it's going to make a difference, then it probably will.

i had no problems on my jumps(no tracking or slider required through)perhaps the UK-belly takes too much room huh...

Nah the lipstick camera isn't for me to much of a hassle for whatcha get. So I'm thinking that I'm going to top mount my PC101, but I need a box for it that isn't too bulky. I've looked at the bonehead one and I don't like it all that much, not low profile enough. Any recomendations? Also I'd like to stroboframe mount it if it doesn't create too much of a snag potential so I can turn it around without too much hassle. Help!!!

Why do you want a box?

DW had a pretty cool, super lightweight PC-1xx mount. He basically just screwed the thing through the top of a lightweight helmet (I think it was one of those surfing helmets that have crossed over into freeflying--what are they called?).

Anyway, it gave him a fairly low profile, super lightweight camera helmet. Of course, with his skill level he didn't really have to worry about the camera getting damaged from a bad landing.

I really don't want a box, but I can't figure out how to mount my stroboframe without a box. Maybe I'll have to make a bracket or something, but that'll make it taller. Hmm...
