I just packed up from my jump last night. I found that my slider bumpers are thrashed. They have shown some wear (not much but some) for a while. Last night though they just seemed to fall apart. One is just barely hanging on. I think that the slider gromets that are free (not tied down) are ruining the bumpers/putting extra wear on the gear on opening. So my question is for those of you that jump slider down as opposed to slider off. How do you stow your slider? If you get a chance to take pics during your next pack job if you have time that would be great. I would post pics of my set up but I don't have a camera to do so. I will try to get a friend to take pics and I will add them later. I will show How I am folding the slider and what it did to my bumpers.

The best/simplest method I know:

1) Pull the slider bumper up off the link.
2) Push the slider down onto the riser (below the link).
3) Pull the slider bumper back down onto the link.

On 90% of BASE gear, this will trap the slider grommet on the riser, and it won't bang around during the opening, saving wear on all the parts (slider grommet, link, bumper).

I'm not a fan of the various tie down systems available because (a) they put something else on the link that I might accidentally grab going for my dive loops, (b) they allow the slider to rock up and down during deployment and chew the bumpers, and (c) they just add more pieces to my gear, with no real benefit as far as I can see.
