Ok heres the sketch....... SchmoMoFo was me posting about this issue. The reason I did this anon was that I did not want people thinking I was some sort of site Nazi. But since speaking with a couple of jumpers it seems that people are suspicious because of the unknown poster.
I was at this Cliff at the weekend and we met up with the police and discussed the issues with jumping at this site. Due to the possible wasting of police time that could come of people away from the exit point not seeing what exactly we were doing and calling with "someone has jumped" and having them not knowing we are there they obviously have to respond as a possible suicide. They are happy with us jumping there and more so happy if we take the time to call them and let them know our plans and how many of us are there. We then called them at the end of the day as we were leaving and they responded with a "thank you".
I realise the wierdness of calling the police before you jump - but I assure you they have no problem with BASE jumping at this site and appreciate the information as they can respond more efficiently to other calls.
I thought that a polite call will perhaps show us to be thoughtful and hopefully will ensure they dont get pissed off with numerous calls wasting their time.
As was said its not illegal to BASE jump from cliffs - its the wasting of police time that will get their proverbial goat right up.
I hope this is acceptable and now I have "come out" you will see this is information beneficial and not suspicious.
I think you could call this a "legal UK site"
