Somewhere about midway between the closest I've ever been to it and the farthest from it I've been. I'm about 4 1/2 years from my "qualifying" BASE jump (my 'A').

I am BASE,if not i wouldnt go there.BASE aint only Qualifying for the 4 objects,its about the lifestyle... It dosnt matter if you jump a A or a B,as long YOU enjoy that moment..

I am as close as it will take Global Postal services to get my number to me... It was issued on Monday (Apr 12th)! I actually feel BASE since I jumped my last object (B)to complete the word. That was March 11th.
However, I agree with Faber about BASE being more a lifestyle than ´just´ the objects or numbers!
The experiences are priceless!

Congratulations. I think the numbers are an amazing way to stay in touch with the roots of our sport.

It seams that there has been a substantial up surge in the number of people receiving their BASE numbers and I’m curious if any one has any real data that shows when this up surge actually began and, has it slowed down any and if so when.

Craig had a web site up trying to do that. He was working on voluntarily contributed data, though, so it wasn't a complete sampling. It'd be quite a project to do a good analysis, and I don't think RH is going to let anyone have the raw data, since it's confidential.

i agree,at least this year(2004)theres arround 20 people that got the #,i know becours a DK fella got #873 newyears eve....
i got mine 20/9-03,so there seems to go aprox 40 evry ½ year right now.. i seems to rember that someone once said that it usaly were 20 a year...but im not sure.
Mac when did you got yours? 1 year ago or so?

I did some work on the numbers for Craig about 6 months ago. I can't find the file but if he still has it I don't see any reason why Craig wouldn't share the results (though maybe not the raw data). I made a prediction for the dates of BASE 900 and BASE 1000. Damned if I can remember them though. I'll keep looking and post the dates when (if) I find 'em.

Skin, You predicted July 19th 2004 for number 900 and March 1st 2006 for number 1000, and judging by Joris' number that may be a little out, but as you said, this was 6 months ago, and the latest issued number has advanced by about 50 on what you were working with then. Perhaps it's time to re-run the numbers again?

I was close to get started...I saved my money, and started doing some drills under canopy, but then boy and girl meet and one plus one somehow is going to make three possiably four, more than likely four....So there goes my BASE money...twins...geez...I already have two kids, now two more! Oh well, I am sure that I could sell them and make a killing....but I am sure I will change my mind once I see them....babies are so cute....lol... No really I will just have to wait until next year. I can't even skydive anymore...

I completed the word on March 11th and my number (892) was issued April 12th.
On March 17th a friend me completed the word as well and his number was issued also about a month later. He received #901 and we´re only in April 2004...
Start making new bets guys, 1000 is coming fast!!!
