Had a base gear ever saved your life?
Hi All,

I just want to know if wearing a base gear has ever safed your life? So, you where on your way to your exit point, but then stumbled or lost contact with your feet, and fell off the object, but safed your life because you were wearing a base rig? So for example you are climbing an antenna, but lost your grip for some reason and just fell of doing an "early exit". Crazy

And don't answer: "Yes, my rig safed my life in every jump."
I want to hear about "unplanned exits", if you know what i mean.

Or is this impossible, because during the ascend your gear is still in his bag and not on your back?

Thanks for your answers to someone who has never based...

Feet up!

I watched a guy fall about 15' from a bridge I-beam and land on his back. Luckily he had a rig on his back, inside his stash bag. He was trying to access the bridge by walking a narrow I-beam at night.

He had some internal injuries and coughed up blood for awhile, but he's fine. I believe the soft rig on his back might have saved him from further injury.

I think the alcohol probably contributed to his (mis)fortune, as well.

I know one who got saved by his rig. He was walking on the edge of some high cliffs to find his exit point. Suddenly the ground gave after and he was in free fall. He trow the PC and got away from it without any scratches. Guess he was lucky and happy when he landed. What a rush it must have been.
